Wearing Your Purpose: How Fashion, Faith & Community Build Movement
Innovators. Faith-based visionaries.
Todd & Tishawn Hatchett
Apparel can be more than style—it can be a statement, a source of healing, and a call-to-action. We’ll dive into the story behind the brand, what inspired Tishawn and Todd to create a line rooted in purpose, and how their faith and community drive their mission. We’ll also discuss how fashion can empower marginalized voices, spread light in dark times, and start conversations that shift culture.
Their journey, the messages on their apparel, and their impact through visibility and voice will encourage listeners to show up boldly, live intentionally, and "wear" their truth every day.
Greetings to you, from us, Todd and Tishawn Hatchett. We are the owners of the Godware Inspirational Communication Brand and we wanted to share a little bit of our brand information with you, how it began, and why we decided to step out in faith and obedience to God and go full throttle with the brand and business. I, Tishawn, am the creator and founder, and my husband Todd, is my partner and co-creator; The brand, "GodWare Inspirational Communication",& birthed during an intense one on one meditation and prayer session with God during one of the lowest points in my life. The GodWare brand, the meaning behind it and its contents have been created for the sole purpose of everyday, perpetual encouragement, inspiration, enlightenment, uplifting and God Awareness in and around us all. Each design is created to encourage and inspire the consumer to not only look good wearing or using the merchandise, but to feel good inwardly also and embody his presence, his ableness and who they believe God is to them. It is to unashamedly, unapologetically, promote and make known some of the many attributes of a limitless God. Another goal of ours is to also assist every consumer with creating a spiritual and uplifting atmosphere within their homes, office space, or any personal space where the presence of God may be desired. Coming from a lowly place in my life during that time and trying to claw my way back to peace, strength, stability, sanity, happiness, and forward motion, I realized that I needed a major overhaul of my total being. I needed to be rebuilt mentally, emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and even physically. This was a rebuilding that could not be done by human hands, words, or workings. This was a building up that could only be done by God himself. Being a Christian for many years and an avid worshipper and lover of God, I was all too familiar with where and who to go to for what I needed. So, I did just that! Sought God and "Walla", GodWare Inspirational Communication was birthed! If an item you have or a house that you own, needs to be repaired, the first thing that one thinks to do, is go to a hardware store to get the tools that they need to repair or rebuild the item or home or find the resources to simply start over and build a new one. The hardware store is a specific place that would have every tool needed to produce a successful recovery, restoration and bountiful result of that physical building or item. If a person needs their spiritual home to be repaired, they go to the place or the one that would have every tool that they'd need to get it up and running again. God was the hardware store that I went to, to get every tool that I needed. I reference it, "GodWare” store. I needed to start from scratch, and I let him know that, so he presented to me, during my time with him, a list of all of his tools that he had available to me. Some of them are listed below: The Peace of God, The Love of God, The Strength of God, The Mercy of God, The Might of God, The Breath of God, The Fragrance of God, The Power of God, The Light of God, The Wisdom of God, The Move of God, The Will of God, The Way of God, The Voice of God, The Stillness of God, The Blessings of God, The Goodness of God, The Praise of God, The Righteousness of God, The Spirit of God, The Help of God, The Heart of God, The Forgiveness of God, The Grace of God, The Depth of God, The Touch of God, The Mind of God, The Majesty of God, The Glory of God, The Omniscience of God, The Omnipotence of God, The Omnipresence of God, The Vengeance of God, The Wrath of God, The Word of God, The Provision of God, The Holiness of God, The Victory of God, The Angel of God, The Friend of God, The Son of God, The True and Living God! I filled up my spiritual bag with every tool and the only cost to me was to embrace and embody every bit of his provision going forward in life and put it out there on a bigger platform. From Humble Beginnings to Historic Leadership: The Rise of Timberlake
Trailblazer. Rooted. Unshakeable.
Senator Britnee N. Timberlake
From humble beginnings to historic milestones, Senator Britnee N. Timberlake joins Mindset 2 Manuscript w/ JT: Speak Your Truth to reflect on the journey that shaped her—and the battles that made her unbreakable. Before becoming the youngest-ever elected State Senator in New Jersey, Timberlake was the daughter of service-minded parents, a scholar with a calling, and a bold leader unafraid to speak truth to power.
She opens up about the personal and political challenges she’s faced—from systemic barriers to the emotional weight of advocacy—and how faith, family, and purpose have anchored her throughout, and about what it truly means to lead with conviction while carrying the hopes of a community.
In 2024, Britnee N. Timberlake was sworn-in to serve as the youngest ever elected State Senator in the history of the state of New Jersey. She represents the 34th Legislative District, which is comprised of Belleville, Bloomfield, the City of East Orange, Glen Ridge, Nutley, and the City of Orange Township. In the Senate, she currently serves on the Senate Economic Growth Committee and Senate Transportation Committee. Senator Timberlake has sponsored numerous bills to improve the quality of life for all. From restoring voting rights to those formerly incarcerated, creating funding for education and school safety, mentoring young men and women through her internship program, or tackling social justice issues, Senator Timberlake puts the needs of New Jersey residents first. Senator Timberlake has always been dedicated to putting working class families’ needs first. She was the first elected official in the state to pass a resolution in support of raising the minimum wage to $15.00 an hour. Her steadfast devotion to this initiative led to the creation of a bill supporting this policy, which was signed into law by Governor Murphy in January 2019. Most recently, her dedication to working families is evidenced by the enactment of her Community Wealth Preservation Program bill into law. This bill seeks to level the playing field In January 2019, a bill sponsored by the Senator was also signed into law requiring the NJ Attorney General to handle the investigation and prosecution of a crime in the event a person loses their life during an interaction with or while in the custody of law enforcement. Cited as one of the first of its kind, this groundbreaking law garnered the support of the American Civil Liberties Union, the People’s Organization for Progress, the New Jersey State NAACP, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, New Jersey Working Families, Faith in New Jersey, and countless other advocacy groups. In 2018, she called for a prohibition on the sale of certain toy guns and imitation firearms. The bill was created in response to the unfortunate death of Tamir Rice, an Ohio resident killed during an interaction with a police officer while holding an imitation firearm. This bill was signed into law by Governor Murphy in January 2020. After reports of unprecedented infant mortality rates and lack of access to prenatal care amongst women of color, Senator Timberlake was a part of a host of bills that were signed into law to combat these shocking health disparities. She successfully advocated for the passage of the following laws: requiring hospital emergency departments to ask any person of childbearing age about their recent pregnancy history; mandating health benefits coverage for fertility preservation services under certain health insurance plans; mandating health benefits and Medicaid coverage for breastfeeding support; and screening of newborn infants for spinal muscular atrophy, to name a few. Senator Timberlake is no stranger to public service. From 2015 to 2017, she served as President of the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders representing District 3 – the City of East Orange, the City of Orange Township, the Township of South Orange Village, and parts of the West Ward of the City of Newark. While leading one of the largest counties in the state, Timberlake managed a budget of over $700,000,000. At the time, she was the youngest and the only African American female President of a Freeholder Board in New Jersey. Additionally, in 2024, she was a champion for and a witness to the passage of the National Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights. She continues to work additional passage of maternal bills that will affect change for our marginalized citizens. Senator Timberlake holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in Religious Studies and a master’s degree in public administration from Seton Hall University. She is the proud daughter of Philip Timberlake and Cathy Walsh Timberlake. Her father served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne, and her mother was an educator of the mentally and physically challenged. It is through their example of service that she has dedicated her education and professional career to helping people. She resides in East Orange with her blended family and is a mother of 4 with three biological children. She gives all glory to God for her life and stands on the word from Philippians 4:11-13.
